Progress on Church Refurbishment 23/06/2024

Dear Parishioners,

1. Demolition of the right-hand side of the Church started Monday and almost complete.

2. Work on the left-hand side of the Church is still during the weekdays. The Church as a whole was not usable for weekday morning Masses from Tuesday to Thursday of last week, owing to the levels of dust. We do apologize to the Parishioners that attend the daily morning mass. The situation was restored on Friday, and the weekly Children’s Friday Mass was held in the Church.

3. We received a donation of 5 bags of Cement, this week, we are most grateful to the Donor.

4. There are however still pledges that have not been honoured and these amount to 11,510,000 plus 50 bags of cement. Thank you to all that have honoured pledges, encourage all those that have uncleared pledges to honour them.

5. In an effort to raise funds for the church refurbishment, there are 33 windows that have been removed from the Church. If there is anyone interested in buying them, please contact the Parish Office. A list showing the sizes of windows is displayed on the General Notice Board and the Parish Websites As we prepare for the Feast Day of Our Lady of Mt Carmel, we thank you for your support and appeal to you to continue supporting the ongoing work. Donation envelopes are now available including at sub-parish level, through which you can make your contributions. You can also do so directly at the Parish Office.

Progress on Church Refurbishment 09/06/2024

Dear Parishioners,
1. Last week we presented the budget for our Church Refurbishment, which can be viewed on the Church notice board. Just to recap we need approximately 697 million to complete the project. The costs, specifically for windows for the Church can also be viewed on the notice board.

2. We started the migration of work from the left-hand side to the right-hand side of the Church on Tuesday 4th June 2024. This migration will be complete by next Sunday 16th June 2024, which means that the right-hand side of the Church will be boarded off.

3. In the meantime, work will continue during the weekdays on the left-hand side. This will include:
    a. Masonry: perfecting the shapes of the new arches so that they are ready to receive the final coats of paint.
    b. Completion of the electrical wiring and installation of lights.
    c. Completion of the new terrazzo floor at the rear of the Church.
    d. Polishing of the remainder of the old floor.
    e. Final touches on painting.
    f. Installation of new wires for the sound.
    g. Reinstallation of pavers.
    h. Connecting the roof drain to the drainage channels.

4. The printout of what our Church will look like after completion of the refurbishment project are now available for viewing, at the front of the Church.

5. As we prepare for the Feast Day of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, we thank you for your support. We have so far received UGX 26,275,000 paid in cash from the fundraising held on Fr. Ronald Kigozi’s birthday, and appeal to you to continue supporting this important work.
